FAQ

AI agent readiness, answered.

What is an AI agent?

An AI agent is an AI-enabled system that can pursue a goal, use data or tools and perform actions with some degree of independence. Examples can include agents that review documents, update records, send communications, create support tickets or interact with business applications.

How is an AI agent different from a chatbot?

A chatbot primarily responds to a user’s questions. An AI agent may also use connected tools, access business systems, make decisions or perform actions. The distinction depends on the system’s actual capabilities, not simply what the vendor calls it.

What should an organization document about its AI agents?

At minimum, document each agent’s purpose, owner, identity, accessible data and systems, permitted actions, human approval requirements, vendor dependencies, monitoring records and suspension procedure.

Is a list of AI products enough?

No. A product inventory identifies what was purchased or discovered, but it may not show what individual agents can access, which identities they use or what actions they are authorized to perform.

Do we need this review if an outside vendor manages our AI?

Yes. A vendor may operate the technology, but your organization still needs visibility into how the agent is used, what company information it can access and what controls apply to its activity.

Does this review certify AI compliance?

No. The review supports internal inventory, documentation and planning. It is not a certification, legal opinion or formal determination of compliance.

Can Metro Relay work with our internal IT team or existing provider?

Yes. Metro Relay can work alongside internal teams and outside providers to review documentation, identify control gaps and help establish evidence without replacing the organizations already supporting your environment.

What should we bring to an AI Agent Readiness Review?

Bring your AI tool list, vendor documentation, process descriptions, security requirements, current policies and any available records showing permissions, approvals, monitoring or testing.
